Rowland Edwards

Rowland Edwards is an associate with ZFZ based in Chicago, specializing in litigation and contract and advisory work.

Prior to joining ZFZ, Rowland gained experience serving the taxpayers of Cook County, Illinois, as an Assistant State’s Attorney at the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office. There, he managed a caseload of over 50 civil cases in the Civil Actions Bureau, handling pre-trial litigation activities, including drafting pleadings, dispositive motions, and briefs, including at the appellate level. He also took and defended depositions, developed effective litigation defense plans, and provided advice to Cook County officials. Rowland also served as an Assistant State’s Attorney in the Criminal Prosecutions Bureau, conducting criminal investigations and researching factual bias of cases for trial, grand jury presentment, preliminary hearings, bond hearings, and motions.

Rowland acted as general counsel for a tech startup that developed an iOS-based social media application, where he provided legal advice across various operational areas, ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, drafting and reviewing business contracts, and identifying and addressing potential legal risks.

Rowland is admitted as an attorney of the State Bar of Illinois in January of 2020 and to the US District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in May of 2022. He graduated with a Juris Doctor from Loyola University of Chicago’s School of Law in May of 2020.
