Anastasiia Demidova is a dual-qualified (New York and Russia) arbitration & dispute resolution associate based in our London office. She successfully passed SQE 1 in January 2023, pursuing a third qualification as a Solicitor of England and Wales.

Anastasiia holds an LL.M with high honours from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA), and a Master’s degree in Private International Law (with distinction) from the National Research University ‘Higher School of Economics’ (Russia).

Prior to joining ZFZ, Anastasiia worked at leading Russian and American law firms, specialising in international arbitration and high-value court disputes. Anastasiia also gained experience at the General Legal Division of the United Nations in New York, where she assisted the Arbitration & Claims cluster with representing the UN in civil and commercial disputes.

Anastasiia’s primary interests lie in international dispute resolution (including investment and commercial arbitration, conflicts of laws and asset recovery), as well as the law of international trade. Outside of the legal profession, Anastasiia is passionate about writing and photography.

Anastasiia works in English (fluent) and Russian (native).

Highlights of Anastasiia’s work include the following:

  • Representing a sovereign state in an ad hoc investment dispute subject to New York law and involving a gold mine in Central Asia, which resulted in a successful settlement.
  • Acting for a sovereign state in an ICSID case involving an oil and gas refinery in Latin America.
  • Representing a state entity in a $130m ad hoc arbitration proceedings seated in India.
  • Advising a major Italian construction company on consequences of delay under a FIDIC Silver Book contract.
  • Assisting an international organisation in negotiations with several contractors and subcontractors.
  • Representing clients in complex personal injury cases in US federal and Louisiana state courts.
