Jakob Reckhenrich is a barrister based in the London office. He has completed pupillage at a top commercial set and worked as a judicial assistant to Mr Justice Butcher and Mr Justice Jacobs in the Commercial Court.

Jakob focuses on litigation and arbitration work in the shipping and commodities sector, frequently appearing alongside leading external counsel. He also has substantial experience appearing in his own right.

Prior to becoming a barrister, Jakob worked as an academic philosopher, completing his PhD and teaching at Brown University after studies at University College, Oxford and in Berlin. He also spent half a year working in the corporate strategy department of a major German group of companies.

Outside his work, Jakob keeps trying to become a proficient pianist, alas, with no great success.
