Data Protection and IP Update

The European Commission has been busy and released several documents on salient issues relating to IP and Data Protection:

The Commission’s IP Action Plan, announcing measures in five key areas: 1) improvement of IP protection in the fields of SPCs, EU design protection or GIs; call for rollout of the Unitary Patent System, 2) IPRs and SMEs, 3) sharing of essential IP in times of crisis / standard essential patents, 4) fight against counterfeits and improvement of IP enforcement, 5) promotion of a “global level playing field”.
