Friederike Schäfer is partner with our firm and an expert in international dispute resolution, with a strong focus on international arbitration.

Before joining our firm Friederike worked in private practice as well as counsel at the Secretariat of the ICC Court. In this capacity she has gained a vast experience in handling matters under the ICC rules. In private practice she has worked with various other sets of arbitration rules, such as VIAC, UNCITRAL and DIS rules in different capacities, including as sole arbitrator. Friederike has advised clients in various aspects of commercial and corporate matters and regularly represented clients before the Austrian courts.

She also advised clients in various matters concerning private foundations and real estate.

Friederike regularly lectures on dispute resolution at international and national conferences. She has authored numerous publications. Friederike is a graduate of the University of Freiburg, Germany and admitted to the bar in Germany and Austria.

Friederike works in English (fluent) and German (native) and has good working knowledge in French.

As counsel at the Secretariat of the ICC Court, leading the case management team responsible for the German speaking region, The Netherlands and Northern Europe, Friederike oversaw the administration of around 200 ongoing arbitration proceedings at any given time. She prepared the ICC Court’s scrutiny of over 300 draft awards and dealt with all possible varieties of procedural issues under the ICC Rules.
